Gridiron Dialogues

The 2025 Gridiron Dialogues is a year-long, cross-sector series convening voices from across the energy landscape to reimagine how we build a more flexible, resilient grid. Each session advances shared solutions and culminates in a 2026 white paper and in-person summit—inviting you to be part of your planet’s future.
About Stored Potential
Stored Potential is a 3-hour virtual roundtable that brings together leaders across the energy storage ecosystem—from OEMs and analytics firms to utilities, developers, and investors—to discuss how storage can deliver greater flexibility, value, and reliability for the grid.
The conversation will focus on how batteries are evolving from static backup systems to dynamic tools for load shaping—enabling smarter, faster, and more resilient energy management. This session is not a webinar. It’s a working, off-the-record discussion aimed at surfacing friction points, identifying signals of momentum, and exploring what’s needed for energy storage to reach its next stage of commercial, operational, and regulatory maturity.

Why Now?
Energy storage is under pressure to deliver more than just resilience. As deployment scales, the bar is rising. Projects are expected to deliver faster dispatch, greater flexibility, grid support, and compelling financial returns.

But challenges persist—from technology risk and interconnection delays to capital readiness, safety standards, and market fragmentation. This roundtable creates a space for operators, technologists, investors, and grid planners to share real-world insight into how storage-enabled flexibility is reshaping the market—
and what’s needed to unlock its full potential.
The Agenda
This 3-hour virtual session will move from system-wide context to deployment realities to shared priorities and next steps.
Part 1: Why Storage + Flexibility Matter Now
A conversation on how load growth, renewables, and system constraints are shifting the role of storage—and why flexibility and load shaping are becoming central to grid reliability and planning.

Part 2: Deployment Realities
A candid look at what accelerates or slows projects today, including interconnection processes, safety standards, chemistry and supply chain considerations, and the impacts of recent FEOC requirements and tariff shifts.

Part 3: Breakouts and Shared Priorities
Small-group breakouts to identify key insights, sharpen open questions, and identify where action could unlock meaningful progress going forward.

Who’s at the Table
Participants will include senior leaders from:
  • Battery manufacturers and suppliers
  • Fire safety and standards experts
  • FTM and BTM developers
  • Utility, grid, and regulatory experts and innovators
  • Investors, insurers, and advisors
  • VPP, demand-side, and DER leaders
  • Research and analytics firms
  • Large energy users such as data centers and manufacturers
Participation is limited to 20-25 voices to support candid, in-depth exchange among peers.
How It Works
The session will be hosted on Zoom and held under Chatham House rules.
Participants are free to use insights gained but not attribute comments to specific people or organizations. The goal is an open, constructive conversation where everyone can share freely.

Be Part of Your Planet’s Future
The Earthshot Foundation is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit established in Washington, DC to: 1) protect and preserve our natural capital and livable planet; 2) accelerate a clean and abundant energy transition; and 3) design prosperous, intelligent, and sustainable systems for all.

We declared long ago that we already know what to do, and that the energy of tomorrow is the energy of today.
We support the motives, truths, practiced methods, and unifying missions of those who show us why and how-to—the Terranauts.

Founded by the entrepreneurs behind Distributed Sun, trucurrent draws on 15+ years in energy transition solutions across asset classes, integrating distributed energy resources that include on-site generation, storage, fleet electrification, and load management. With Distributed Sun, trucurrent has deployed 250+ MW of solar, 10+ MWh of battery storage, and 25+ MW of EV charging infrastructure—helping Fortune 500 and large enterprise customers reduce costs, improve resilience, and accelerate sustainable operations.
